The Fox Chapel Area School District had a challenge to meet when it began a technology initiative in 2000. The principal, Charles Territo, came up with a plan to meet the challenge from the School Board: How can you guarantee that the funds you're requesting for new computer labs, presentation systems, and laptops will be used effectively."
Jane Mather will share her insights into the program based on her experience as the facilitator for the Professional Education Program (PEP) that was developed to meet the challenge. Share with Jane your questions about PEP and the Fox Chapel response.

I am looking forward to sharing my experience as facilitator of Fox Chapel's PD program during next Thursday's class (2.7.08). Please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you might want me to address either in this space or during our evening together. What was gained by the teachers in a professional sense was matched in a personal sense as well. With the teachers' permission, I plan to unravel particular 'surprises' along the way.
Concerning your involvement with CFF, in hindsight, what might PDE have done differently that would have improved the rollout?
Hi Janey:
I am interested in learning about how you migh go about framing an evaluation of your CFF initiative. How are you going to measure the successes and/or failures of the program, and how might that information relate to improved achievement for Fox Chapel students?
I look forward to meeting you tomorrow.
Our teachers are reluctant to do much outside of school hours and our administrators are unwilling to give up instructional time during the day. When you set up your PD program, how did you get buy-in from both teachers and administrators?
What is your background? Has your background helped you to implement the PD program?
